Los Angeles: Strong winds threaten to spread fire

A devastating fire in Los Angeles, California, has been raging for over a week, burning approximately 40,000 acres of land.

Despite extensive firefighting efforts, the blaze remains out of control, with over 12,000 homes and buildings destroyed.

More than 200,000 people have been forced to evacuate, and at least 25 have lost their lives, with many others still missing.

As strong winds of up to 125 kilometers per hour sweep through Ventura and Los Angeles counties, officials are concerned the fire may worsen.

The winds are carrying burning debris, which is causing the fire to spread rapidly.

Over 12,000 firefighters, 1,150 fire trucks, 60 aircraft, and 143 water tankers are working around the clock to battle the flames. However, despite these efforts, the fire remains uncontrollable.

Rescue teams are also searching the wreckage for any survivors among the burned structures.

“We have firefighters, we have water, we just need time and mercy from nature,” the deputy of California Fire Department stated.

The fire is believed to have started on the popular Palisades hiking trail, while, the authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze as the community braces for possible further destruction.
