Tensions erupted at Numaish Chowrangi as Karachi police swung into action to disperse protesters of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) from blocking the road.

As per media reports, the police officers used tear gas to disperse the crowd, who responded by pelting stones and setting motorcycles on fire.

The police managed to arrest several protesters while multiple police officers and SSU commandos were injured during the process, however, one SSU commando was seriously wounded and was rushed to Civil Hospital, according to rescue sources.

On the other hand, protests by the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat were held at several other, including Lasbela Chowk, Orangi Islam Chowk, Nagan Chowrangi, Korangi, Malir, and Sher Shah.

The traffic congestion was reported across the city, with long vehicle lines from Baloch pull to Karsaz, and a complete shutdown on one track of Shahrah-e-Faisal due to a sit-in near Baloch Colony Bridge.

At Sher Shah, severe traffic jams were reported from Gulbai to Sher Shah Road, while the efforts to hold a sit-in at Shah Faisal Colony and Star Gate were quickly halted by the police.
