Karachi routes MWM protest Karachi City

Several routes in Karachi blocked as MWM sit-in continues at Numaish

A sit-in organized by the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) at the Numaish traffic intersection has caused significant disruption to traffic, with police diverting vehicles to alternative routes.

The protest, now in its second day, saw a large crowd gather at Numaish in response to the recent killings in Parachinar.

Both lanes of the main M.A. Jinnah Road were closed as protestors set up their camp, including women and children.

According to traffic police, the protesters blocked both lanes leading to and from Numaish to Gurumandir, resulting in severe traffic congestion. Vehicles trapped in the jam were redirected to other routes.

Traffic coming from Gurumandir is being diverted from 45 Congress to PPP Chowrangi, while traffic from PPP Chowrangi is being diverted to Corridor 3, according to police.

Other routes in Karachi, including Super Highway on Abu-ul-Hassan Isfahani Road, are also blocked due to the protest near Abbas Town.

Vehicles are being diverted from Paradise Bakery towards Faria Chowk and other streets, and from Rangers Cut towards Service Road towards Punjab Adda.

The traffic police urged public to call Traffic Helpline 1915 to choose alternative routes and avoid any inconvenience.

The MWM’s had given a nationwide call for protests in solidarity with the people of Parachinar, who were also staging a protest for past six days.

The protest also saw participation from leaders of various political and religious parties, as well as prominent social figures. In addition, a similar sit-in was held on Abul Hasan Ispahani Road near Abbas Town.
