Pakistani squash player Muhammad Harmas Ali Raja made history by winning the gold medal at the US Junior Open 2024.
Harmas defeated an American player in straight sets, with a score of 11-8, 11-8, 11-8, in the Under-11 Boys final.
This victory makes him the first Pakistani to win the prestigious title in the competition’s history.
The US Junior Open 2024 saw 1,007 players from 51 countries competing, highlighting the significance of Harmas’s achievement on the international squash scene.
Pakistani players continued their remarkable performance at the 32nd Asian Junior Squash Championship 2025, achieving multiple victories in the quarterfinals, with five of them advancing to the semifinals.
In the Boys U19 category, Abdullah Nawaz triumphed over Wong Wing Kuen of Hong Kong with a straight-games victory of 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 to move on to the semifinals.
The Boys U15 event saw two Pakistani players advance. Nauman Khan, the top seed in this age group, defeated India’s Harshal Rana in a commanding display with scores of 11-6, 11-5, 11-7, while Ahmed Rayan Khalil outperformed Malaysia’s Armann Merzha bin Ashraff with scores of 11-7, 11-3, 11-3.
