A tragic accident near Jamali Bridge on the Super Highway claimed the lives of Professor Tariq Salahuddin, 54, and his wife Nadia Salahuddin, 55, when a speeding dumper ran over their motorcycle.

The couple was en route to their new home in Azizabad when the dumper struck their bike at a U-turn, resulting in their immediate deaths, according to Express News.

Tariq, a respected physics professor at Abdullah Government College for Women, had been transporting belongings to their new house in a Suzuki van while riding his motorcycle with his wife.

The bodies were transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by Chhipa Ambulance. Police have impounded the dumper and launched a search for the driver, who fled the scene following the incident.

The principal of Abdullah Government College for Women, Tasneem Fatima, expressed profound grief over the loss of an esteemed colleague, describing the tragedy as a significant loss for the academic community.

Sindh’s Interior Minister, Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, has called for a thorough investigation and instructed traffic police to take legal action against the driver.

The minister emphasized the importance of fair and effective police action and ensuring justice for the victims’ family.
