The Nazim of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Pakistan (IJT), Hassan Bilal Hashmi, announced the nationwide campus protest on November 21 to demand the revival of student unions across educational institutions in Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference, Hashmi criticized the government for not implementing the Supreme Court’s decision to revive student unions, terming the delay “worrisome.”
Hashmi stated that student unions are essential for nurturing national leadership and vowed to ensure students’ rights.
He announced that protests and rallies will be organized in educational institutions across the country, with the main rally at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, led by himself.
“If the schedule for student union elections is not released, we will escalate our protests to streets and significant educational and political centers,” Hashmi said.
