In a significant milestone, Pakistan’s Tayyab Ikram has been re-elected unopposed as President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for an unprecedented eight-year term.
This makes Ikram the first president in FIH history to serve for such an extended period, following recent amendments to the FIH constitution that extended the presidential term.
Ikram’s re-election, confirmed at the FIH Congress meeting held in Oman, highlights his continued leadership and influence within the international hockey community.
His new term, set to last until 2032, will see him guiding the sport through pivotal years as the federation aims to grow hockey’s global appeal.
The FIH Congress also reached several other important decisions in its latest session, underscoring its commitment to long-term planning and development.
