Sindh Governor, Kamran Khan Tessori and Acting Chinese Consul General Zhang Hao unveil the plaque to build a new park in Karachi to celebrate Pak-China ties.
Karachi: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has started construction of a park in the middle of the city as a monument to celebrate the decades-long friendly ties between Pakistan and China.
Sindh Governor, Kamran Khan Tessori, in the presence of Acting Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Zhango Hao, laid the foundation stone of the Pak-China Friendship Park. The park will be built on 3.75 acres as the extension of the existing sports complex of the KMC.
The Governor said the construction of the new park began at the start of the Chinese new year to send a clear message to the citizens of China that the people of Pakistan had the desire that the friendship bond between the two countries would last forever.
He told the audience at the groundbreaking ceremony that the park was being built on an uninhabited piece of land that had been cleared of hundreds of tonnes of municipal waste to make it ready for constructing the new recreational facility.
He said the new park would have all the due recreational and athletic facilities for the public.

Tessori said the land grabbers in the city would have occupied the land had the KMC not timely initiated the project to build the park.
He warned the criminal mafias operating in the city that they shouldn’t make any more attempts to encroach the precious amenity and public land as otherwise, the police would take stern action against such anti-social elements.
He commended the drive of the KMC to restore existing amenity facilities and build new parks for serving the Karachiites in the best possible manner.
He said the government would continue with its drive to make Karachi clean and green by removing waste and planting more trees on greenbelts along the main roads of the city.
The Acting Chinese Consul General commended the decision of the KMC to name it after the friendly ties between Pakistan and China.
He said the park would commemorate the friendship bond between the two countries that withstand all the testing times and had become stronger with the passage of time.
He recalled that earlier Chinese cities Beijing and Shenyang had been declared sister cities of Karachi to further promote the ties between the two nations.
