NEC approves trillion-rupee projects in health and energy sectors including K-4

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNC) has given the green light to several major projects across Pakistan, with a focus on health and energy. The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, aimed at boosting the country’s development and prosperity.

One of the key projects approved is the K4 water supply project for Karachi, with an estimated cost of 39 billion 94 crore rupees. The funding for this project will be shared equally between the Center and the provincial government.

Additionally, the Executive Committee approved the concrete lining of Kalri Bhagar feeder upper in Jamshoro Thatta, along with the construction of the Multan Road from the northern loop of the Lahore Ring Road to Multan.

Furthermore, the National Program for Solarization of Tubewell and the Khwaja Khela Basham Expressway project were also given the go-ahead, with an estimated cost of 79 billion 13 crore rupees.

Among other approved projects, the Lahore Sahiwal Bahawalnagar Motorway and the allocation of 14 billion rupees for the Pakistan Education Fund were also on the agenda. The ECNC also sanctioned the laptop scheme project worth 16 billion 80 crore rupees.

Moreover, the modernization of hydromet services received approval, with a budget of 14 billion 50 crores. The Meteorological Department will also receive assistance from the World Bank for this project, as per the ECNC announcement.
