The ‘One Window Desk’ established at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport to facilitate overseas Pakistanis has fallen into disuse due to a lack of attention, as reported by Geo News.
Initiated as per the instructions of the Federal Ombudsman to enhance the convenience of Pakistanis traveling abroad, the One Window Facilitation Desk was designed to provide a streamlined process for travelers.
The desk was intended to be manned by staff from various relevant authorities including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Airport Security Force, Civil Aviation Authority, and the Department of the Protector. These personnel were expected to offer assistance to overseas Pakistanis, especially those departing for employment opportunities abroad.
However, the implementation of this convenience measure has been marred by the absence of relevant staff. Reports indicate that the desk lacks the presence of the designated staff and the guiding personnel meant to assist travelers. This absence has resulted in the One Window Desk being rendered ineffective, despite its potential to alleviate the concerns of passengers.
As a result of this lapse, the announcement of the One Window Desk’s availability remains merely an announcement, and passengers seeking assistance or guidance are encountering difficulties.
The situation underscores the need for a proactive approach from relevant authorities to ensure that such facilitation measures are operational and effectively serving the intended purpose of aiding travelers.
