An investigation committee has submitted its findings to the Chief Minister of Sindh, uncovering significant irregularities in the Karachi Matriculation Board results for 2023.
According to the report, the entire examination team, including the controller, deputy controller, assistant controller, and IT team, bears responsibility for manipulating the results. The committee found Controller of Examinations Imran Butt’s statement to be unsubstantiated, highlighting a lack of transparency in the result announcement process.
Chairman of the board, Sharaf Ali Shah, was criticized for failing to implement reforms and manage both old and new systems effectively, resulting in damage to the overall performance of the board.
The report also pointed out the lack of training among teachers responsible for examining papers, leading to numerous errors. Additionally, discrepancies were noted in the use of software, resulting in incorrect results being published in the gazette.
The committee recommended further investigation by the anti-corruption establishment and departmental action against implicated officers and employees. Despite attempts to obstruct the submission of the report, the convener committee successfully delivered it to the Chief Minister.
Furthermore, the committee emphasized the importance of appointing competent and honest officers to crucial positions such as the Controller of Examinations. The irregularities in the matriculation examination results have raised serious concerns, with thousands of students affected by the discrepancies.
