Under the visionary leadership of Sindh’s Chief Minister, Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqar, a groundbreaking meeting was held at the Chief Minister House on December 13, 2023. The focus of the meeting was to discuss and initiate the revitalization of Shahrah Faisal and the transformation of Chundrigarh Cemetery.
The meeting, attended by prominent figures including Minister of Culture Dr. Junaid Shah, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, and Commissioner Karachi Saleem Rajput, outlined comprehensive plans for the beautification and enhancement of key areas within the city.
Shahrah Faisal’s Facelift: A Green and Beautiful Corridor
The Chief Minister announced ambitious plans to beautify the entire stretch of Shahrah Faisal, extending from the airport to Regent Plaza, covering an impressive 18 kilometers. Falcon Pride Apartments, visible immediately upon exiting the airport, will undergo renovation by the Sindh Building Control Authority, transforming the external view into a visual delight.
The construction of Falcon Pride Apartments, scheduled to commence within the week, is expected to contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of Shahrah Faisal. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of creating an environment where visitors would immediately recognize Karachi as a city of beauty.
In line with this vision, the Chief Minister instructed the planting of trees along Shahrah Faisal, the beautification of sidewalks, and the design of aesthetically pleasing underpasses and flyovers.
Chundrigarh Cemetery’s Metamorphosis: A Green Oasis Unveiled
Chundrigarh Cemetery, a historically significant site, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation. The meeting approved plans for a new cemetery on 30 acres of adjacent land, signaling an end to burials within Chundrigarh Cemetery itself. The existing graves, spread across 25.4 acres, will remain undisturbed.
Chief Minister Makhdoom Baqir stressed the importance of creating a serene and beautiful environment around Chundrigarh Cemetery. Plans include the removal of encroachments, renovation of internal roads, and the installation of streetlights. The Chief Minister envisioned Chundrigarh Cemetery as a place of tranquility and reflection.
The announcement has generated enthusiasm among Karachi residents, who anticipate witnessing the city’s transformation unfold under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar
