Karachiites are advised to prepare for a chilly winter as weather experts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast a drop in temperatures to single digits in the coming days. The PMD reported that cold and dry weather is currently prevailing in most plain areas of the country.
A shallow westerly wave is affecting western Balochistan, and it is expected to move northeastward, potentially affecting upper parts of the country over the next 24 hours. Weather analyst Jawad Memon explained that a westerly system is likely to enter Pakistan via Balochistan, and while it may not bring rain to Sindh, a cold wave is anticipated as the system moves out.
Memon further stated that the mercury could fall to single digits in suburban areas of Karachi, indicating a notable decrease in temperatures. The Met Office’s weather report suggests mainly cold and dry weather in most plain areas of the country, with very cold and partly cloudy conditions in upper parts expected in the next week.
The report also highlights the possibility of fog in upper Sindh, plain areas of Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning and night. Karachi residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions for the expected cold spell.
