Karachi is currently experiencing a cold wave that is expected to persist until January 17, according to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz.
He confirmed that the city’s cold weather will intensify, with strong northeastern winds blowing at speeds of 25 to 30 km/h.
Starting January 15, temperatures at night are predicted to drop to single digits, reaching a minimum of 9°C to 11°C, accompanied by a 65 percent humidity level and winds from the northeast at 20 km/h.
The cold spell will continue until January 17, when western winds are anticipated to reduce the intensity of the cold.
Earlier to this, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted that the cold wave which gripped Karachi for days is expected to deepen from January 04.
Despite some decrease in prevailing cold weather, the PMD hinted that the temperature in Karachi is likely to drop to one digit after January 04.
Currently, the PMD recorded a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius in the metropolis while the humidity levels are at 58 percent.
