Water supply to Karachi will be restored by Wednesday evening, following the repair of a major 84-inch diameter water line on University Road, which leaked for the third time.
The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) announced that repair work on the damaged pipeline will begin tomorrow and is expected to take three days to complete.
According to a spokesperson for the KWSC, the repair work will be carried out continuously over 24-hour shifts to ensure that the work is finished on time.
The spokesperson confirmed that the city’s daily water supply of 650 million gallons would be affected by the repair, with a shortage of approximately 150 million gallons per day.
However, the KWSC reassured residents that 500 million gallons of water will continue to be supplied to the city as usual through other pipelines.

The repair will specifically involve one of three 84-inch diameter pipes, while the remaining two pipes will continue to provide water.
The repair work will cause temporary water supply disruptions in several areas, including Lyari, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Jamshed Town, and parts of the Old City area.
These areas are expected to face water shortages until the repairs are completed.
This is the third time the crucial water supply line on University Road has leaked, leading to the suspension of up to 70 percent of the city’s water supply.
KWSC officials are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible to minimize inconvenience to residents.
