The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, was notably absent from the ICC board gathering during Shah’s visit to Headquarters in Dubai.
According to the PCB source, the International Cricket Council (ICC) rescheduled its board meeting to December 07, leaving unresolved tensions between member boards.
According to media reports, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi traveled to Dubai for the meeting, which is expected to melt the ice between the PCB and BCCI, however, the meeting did not take place as planned.
Earlier in the day, the ICC officially shared a group photo from the visit of newly elected Chairman Jay Shah to their headquarters, in which the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi was notably absent.
Despite the meeting being once again rescheduled, the newly elected Jay Shah commenced his tenure with a trip to ICC Headquarters.
As per the ICC official news release, Jay Shah visited the ICC Headquarters in Dubai for the first time in his role as ICC Chair on December 05, where he met with the ICC Board Directors and staff.
"I was equally delighted to meet with the dedicated ICC team working tirelessly behind the scenes to propel cricket forward.”
As the ICC meeting rescheduled, the critical decisions related to Champions Trophy 2025, are left pending.
According to Indian media reports, Jay Shah has called a board meeting on Thursday at 5 PM to address the Champions Trophy hosting issue.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, most of the board members – 15 in all – is in favour of a hybrid model of hosting.
