Russia accused of using intercontinental missile in Ukraine strike

For the first time in history, a country has been accused of deploying an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in an armed conflict.

A Ukrainian soldier and President Volodymyr Zelensky have alleged that Russia used an ICBM in a large-scale missile assault on Ukraine overnight.

In a video statement, Zelensky claimed the missile had new features, suggesting it was an intercontinental system.

Ukrainian media, citing military sources, identified the missile as an RS-26, capable of carrying nuclear warheads up to 5,800 kilometers or delivering conventional warheads over shorter ranges.

The alleged strike follows recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory using American and British missiles. While Russia has not officially confirmed the use of ICBMs, the move has drawn significant attention internationally.

According to foreign experts, if verified, this would mark the first combat use of an intercontinental missile, setting a grave precedent in warfare.

Ukraine reported that the attack included a Kinzhal hypersonic missile and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles, of which six were intercepted mid-air.
