Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, inaugurated Pakistan’s first Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP) during a ceremony held at the Expo Center as part of IDEAS 2024.
Addressing the audience, Admiral Ashraf emphasized the significance of PMSTP as a transformative initiative for advancing maritime sciences, technology, and industry. He highlighted its potential to bolster Pakistan’s GDP and maritime sector while reflecting partnerships with forward-thinking individuals and organizations.
A statement from the Navy’s Director General of Public Relations described PMSTP as a pioneering venture integrating academia, industry, and government to foster growth in the maritime sector. Key areas of focus include maritime technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, ocean renewable energy, seafood processing, shipbuilding, and coastal tourism.
The PMSTP is designed as a hub of innovation, aiming to strengthen Pakistan’s blue economy and address economic challenges. Planned expansions include branches in Islamabad, Lahore, and Gwadar, ensuring a nationwide impact.
