Sugar prices soar in Karachi, reaching Rs 140 per kg at wholesale level

In Karachi, the wholesale price of sugar has experienced a significant surge, reaching Rs 140 per kg. According to reliable sources from Jodia Bazaar, the wholesale price of sugar stood at Rs 135 per kg at the beginning of the business week, but it has now escalated to Rs 140 per kg at the close of today’s business.

This price surge reflects an increase of Rs 5 per kg in just three days, causing concern among consumers and traders alike. A 50 kg bag of sugar now costs around Rs 7,000.

Notably, the retail market has also been affected by this hike in sugar prices, with consumers facing the impact directly. At the retail level, sugar is being sold at Rs 150 per kg, further adding to the burden on consumers.

The rising sugar prices have prompted concerns among the public and the authorities, and the situation is being closely monitored. Further actions and measures may be taken to stabilize the sugar prices and alleviate the impact on consumers.
