Street crime continues in October

Three Karachi residents were killed and nine others were injured by street criminals in the first week of October.

The police are unable to curb street crime in Karachi; the first week of October was particularly difficult for civilians; ruthless street criminals shattered the lights of three people’s life in the first seven days.

Despite the presence of thousands of police officers, criminals’ daring and citizens’ fear are increasing.

Although Karachi has a police force of between 42,000 and 35,000 officers, civilians are nevertheless at the mercy of criminals since thousands of officers are assigned to protect VIPs.

Only 2.5 million people remained. So there is only one cop for every 715 of them. In such a setting, the criminal elements’ motivation and residents’ terror have both grown significantly.

The robbers continued to assault day and night throughout the first week of this month as well, and any who fought were killed or wounded.

On October 3, during a protest over the confiscation of a mobile phone in Shadman town, thieves shot and murdered student Hafiz Osama.

On October 6, Bilal, 20, was killed during a heist on the Northern Bypass, while Mian Khan, 28, was killed in Baldia Town on the same day.

On the one hand, street crime has grown in the city, but according to the police, just 9 occurrences have been registered, with four of them occurring in the East, West, Kemari, Korangi, and Malir districts.
