A violent standoff occurred between police and demonstrators in Gulistan-e-Jauhar block 11 during an anti-encroachment campaign.
According to reports, the people gathered in the region to protest an anti-encroachment effort in the area. Many protested as authorities from the anti-encroachment department and the Karachi Development Authority began the operation in accordance with the SHC’s directives. They also stopped traffic by setting fire to tyres.
When the protesters became violent, they were confronted by a baton charge, and they resorted to stone pelting and aerial shooting. A police officer was hurt in the encounter and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police have arrested six people for interference in the state affairs. Officials said the land was being retrieved from illegal occupants, adding that it will be handed over to the legitimate owners.
