SIUT carries out free screening for Covid-19

Sindh Institute if Urology and Transplantation has started carrying out free testing for all after receiving kits from Sindh Government. This facility would be in operation 24/7 throughout the week.

In a press statement, SIUT’s official stated that the Infection Diseases Department and Pulmonology of SIUT were responsible for running this operation. They had formed a six-member team of chest and infectious disease specialists who will carry out the screening. An isolation ward for those who test positive has also been set up. Another team is set to trace persons who have been in contact with the patient.

Dr Adeeb Rizi has clarified that not everyone needs to get tested but only those who show symptoms such as pneumonia, chest infection, cough, flu etc. are taken for further screening. He has also advised the public to not panic, but instead asked them to take precautions and practice self-isolation.

He further added that this fight is not the Governments alone and the public has to cooperate in order for the situation to improve.

Dr Sunil said that patients who have a history of cardiovascular diseases or asthma problems should follow stricter precautionary measures.

A day earlier, SIUT had also set up a 24-hour helpline (021-99215469) where professionals are constantly responding to queries of patients related to Covid-19.
