Sindh’s transgender community to be vaccinated: Health department

The Sindh Health Department on Friday announced that members of the transgender community residing in the province will be vaccinated even in the absence of National Identity Cards.

The Sindh government has announced that transgenders will be able to apply for a single-dose vaccine to protect themselves from coronavirus.

According to the national census only 10,418 transgender people live in the province. However, it is commonly believed that the number at least stands at 500,000.

The Karachi Health Services department has said that with such a large number of transgender people present in the province, a vaccination drive for them will lead to a reduction in the spread of coronavirus. It was also suggested that the community be motivated to get vaccinated with the attraction of reward money.
