In a significant milestone for education in the Karachi region, the Sindh Textbook Board (STBB) announced on Thursday that it has successfully completed the delivery of around 700,000 sets of textbooks to government schools. This marks the completion of the final phase of textbook distribution in the city, ensuring that students will have the necessary resources for the upcoming academic year.
A ceremony was held at the STBB’s warehouse in Landhi, Karachi, to commemorate the achievement. The event was attended by notable figures including STBB Chairman Abdul Aleem Lashari, Board Secretary Hafeezullah Mehar, district education officers from Malir, and various representatives from the education sector and other walks of life.
Timely Delivery Across Karachi
In his address to the media, Chairman Abdul Aleem Lashari expressed pride in the board’s efficiency in delivering textbooks across Karachi’s government schools. He confirmed that the distribution process had been completed in all 17 districts of Sindh, with the final batch being dispatched to the Kemari district. This achievement ensures that students in the region will have their textbooks in time for the new school term.
“We have successfully delivered approximately 700,000 sets of textbooks to the Karachi region, fulfilling our commitment to provide educational materials to our students,” Lashari stated. He credited the successful and timely delivery to the directives of Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, who has been instrumental in overseeing the process.
Historical and Future Plans of STBB
During the ceremony, Lashari provided a brief history of the Sindh Textbook Board, which has been in operation since 1970. Over the years, the board has faced and overcome numerous challenges, consistently delivering educational materials to schools across the province.
He also highlighted the board’s future plans, announcing an initiative to digitize textbooks and make them accessible through a mobile application. This move aims to modernize the way students in Sindh access their educational resources, ensuring that learning materials are available at their fingertips.
“The digitization of textbooks is a key part of our strategy to enhance educational accessibility. We are committed to providing students with modern tools that will help them in their academic journey,” Lashari remarked.
Expanding Distribution Across Sindh
Lashari also detailed the board’s broader distribution efforts, noting that textbooks have been successfully delivered to 68 out of 138 taluks (administrative divisions) in Sindh. The next phase of the distribution process is set to begin next week, ensuring that the remaining areas receive their textbooks promptly.
The STBB operates two major warehouses in Sindh, located in Landhi, Karachi, and Jamshoro. This year, the board has printed a total of 4.4 million textbooks, a significant undertaking that reflects its commitment to supporting the province’s educational needs.
Ensuring Smooth Delivery
In a symbolic gesture to underscore the importance of the distribution process, Chairman Lashari, along with other dignitaries, participated in the loading of textbooks into containers at the Landhi warehouse. This act was meant to highlight the board’s dedication to ensuring that every step of the delivery process is conducted smoothly and efficiently.
The successful completion of textbook delivery in Karachi is a crucial step towards ensuring that students across the city are equipped with the necessary materials for their education. The Sindh Textbook Board’s efforts have been widely appreciated, as they reflect a commitment to improving the quality of education in the region and supporting students’ academic growth.
As the board prepares for the next phase of distribution in other parts of Sindh, the focus remains on timely delivery and the continued enhancement of educational resources, including the planned digitization of textbooks. This initiative is expected to further empower students by providing them with easy access to learning materials, fostering an environment of growth and development in the province’s educational landscape.
