Sindh minorities affairs minister announces plans for student hostels and development projects

During the question hour of the provincial assembly’s session, Sindh Minister for Minorities Affairs, Giyanchand Essrani, shared the government’s initiatives for the welfare of religious minorities in the province. Essrani revealed that lodging facilities for minority students would be established, with one hostel costing Rs120 million. He highlighted the government’s efforts in providing scholarships on merit to qualified minority students, amounting to over Rs30 million in the past year.

The minister also mentioned the ongoing development projects, with a total of 268 projects in progress across the province. These projects include 40 in Karachi, eight in Jamshoro, 12 in Ghotki, 25 in Badin, and five in Tharparkar. Essrani emphasized the installation of solar systems in Hindu temples to meet their energy needs.

Furthermore, Essrani assured the assembly of the government’s commitment to protecting all Hindu temples in the province. He stated that the PPP, the ruling party, is dedicated to resolving the issues of religious minorities and ensuring their fundamental rights as per their manifesto.

After the session’s summary proceedings, PA Speaker Agha Siraj Khan Durrani adjourned the session until Thursday.
