The court’s written order highlighted concerns about the handling of the case, expressing apprehension that the arrested individuals may be scapegoated while the real culprits evade justice.
During the court proceedings regarding the RJ Shopping Mall fire case, the judiciary underscored suspicions of foul play, noting efforts to shield the true perpetrators of the incident. As a result, the court directed the investigation officer, Sharif Mayo, to step down from the case, recommending that the investigation be transferred to a senior officer of the SSP rank.
Furthermore, the Sindh High Court emphasized the need for enhanced safety measures in commercial buildings, citing previous fire incidents in Karachi’s shopping malls due to inadequate safety protocols. The court’s order mandated a thorough inspection of all shopping malls, with a requirement for the issuance of safety certificates to ensure compliance with safety standards.
