The Sindh government has unveiled plans to repurpose food waste from across the province, including Karachi, for productive use. This initiative will be jointly executed by the Sindh Food Authority and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board.
Officials have outlined the initial phase of the project, which involves the collection of food waste from ten major food streets in Karachi. Additionally, expired food items from food industries will also be gathered for recycling.
Teams from the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board will be responsible for the collection of food waste, which will then undergo a recycling process to transform it into fertilizer.
The Sindh Food Authority has highlighted that the primary objective of this endeavor is to repurpose wasted food for productive purposes. The success of the project will require the cooperation of all stakeholders involved.
