An important meeting regarding the arrangements for the month of Muharram was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Sindh Minister for Religious Affairs Nasir Shah.
On this occasion, Nasir Shah said that all the arrangements during Muharram in Karachi will be taken care of by Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh Waqar Mehdi and commissioners across the province will hold meetings with all stakeholders, while Chief Minister Sindh will join them online.
It was decided that Sindh government will make foolproof security arrangements throughout the province and a comprehensive plan will be drawn up with the help of law enforcement agencies during Ashura including police and Rangers.
K Electric will be asked to make special arrangements to ensure the supply of uninterrupted power supply during the Ashura days. Orders have also been given for the cleaning of Imambargahs and the procession corridors for citizen’s ease.
The scholars thanked the Sindh government for the assurances regarding the arrangements and reiterated their intention of fully cooperating with the authorities. The clerics demanded permission to mourn in the jails and the reversal of the orders given for the withdrawal of special security provided to clerics.
Special Assistant to CM Waqar Mehdi Hassan Masudi, Syed Raza Sasson, Maulana Ali Jafari, Allama Syed Irfan Abidi and others were present in the meeting.
