In a recent hearing at the Sindh High Court, the court expressed its displeasure towards the Station House Officer (SHO) for failing to take police action against a wine shop situated in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri, Karachi.
The court session, held to address a petition filed against the wine shop, saw the court directing questions to the SHO, questioning why the petition had not been processed and criticizing the officer for presenting what was perceived as mere explanations.
Expressing frustration over the lack of action by the police, the court went on to instruct the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) to conduct an inquiry against the SHO of Ajmer Nagri.
The court, in its ongoing order, emphasized that if any illegal activities were involved in permitting the operation of the wine shop, a thorough investigation should be carried out. The court further directed that its orders be implemented promptly, with a detailed report to be submitted at the next hearing.
During the hearing, the court issued a notice to the Excise Department, seeking their response on the matter. The court adjourned further proceedings on the application for two weeks, awaiting the department’s input. The move indicates the court’s commitment to scrutinizing the circumstances surrounding the wine shop in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri and ensuring appropriate actions are taken to address any legal violations.
