SHC orders accelerated efforts for the recovery of missing persons in Karachi

The Sindh High Court has issued directives to intensify efforts for the prompt recovery of missing persons in Karachi. The court conducted a hearing on petitions related to the disappearance of individuals from various areas of the city.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the reports presented by the Joint Interrogation Team (JIT), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and the police, the court emphasized the need for comprehensive measures to locate and recover the missing persons. The court ordered the DIG Investigation to personally oversee the matter, emphasizing that the responsibility for finding missing persons rests with everyone, and no one should be wrongfully accused.

During the hearing, the police updated the court on the ongoing search for all missing persons. The Federal Interior Secretary, in the submitted report, stated that the concerned individuals are not held in any detention center.

The petitions filed in the Sindh High Court highlight the disappearance of citizens, including Furqan Khan, Imran, Abid Ali, and others from different areas of Karachi. The petitioners have requested the court’s intervention to ensure the swift recovery of these missing persons.

The Sindh High Court’s proactive stance underscores the importance of addressing the issue of missing persons promptly, emphasizing the shared responsibility of relevant authorities and the commitment to safeguarding human rights in Karachi.
