Pakistan Medical Association on Wednesday expressed concern over the unhealthy growth of house flies in the city. According to the PMA, house flies are a source of spread of various diseases of the stomach and intestinal diseases spread rapidly.
Sewerage water and accumulation of trash on roadsides is the main reason for their rapid increase. According to a study an average fly carries 100 different germs and causes many diseases including typhoid and eye infections.
The PMA has advised citizens to cover their food and avoid buying street food that is made and stored in unhygienic conditions.
The government has also been advised to spray pesticides and remove garbage piled in open spaces.
