Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Friday, while visiting Karachi to inaugurate the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, instructed that the Bundal Island project be resumed. The project comprises the development of an island off the coast of Karachi into a business hub.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has repeatedly referred to the Bundal Island as the ‘Dubai of Pakistan’. However, the Sindh and federal governments have been in a tussle about the development project, with the Sindh government claiming that the Centre is trying to take possession of the island while the federal government has repeatedly reassured that this is not the case.
Yesterday, the prime minister pointed out that the Bundal Island project’s completion would be beneficial for the province since it will create more jobs, help in the development of Karachi and provide the country food security in general.
