Pakistani flood victims receive shoes worth Rs 38m from Chinese company

A Chinese business donated Rs38 million in sports shoes to victims of Pakistan’s devastating floods last year.

According to the China Leather Industry Association, the business started the “Put on Chinese Shoes, Rebuild New House” promotion in January. The corporation took measures to show its support for the flood victims in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin-ul-Haque, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the corporation for their extraordinary assistance to flood-affected communities in Pakistan.

The envoy stated that the contribution made him sense the Chinese people’s goodwill towards the Pakistani people.

Torrential rains and ensuing floods submerged one-third of Pakistan in 2022, devastating 33 million people and sweeping away hundreds of millions of animals and homes.

The floods also killed over 1,700 people, causing a whopping loss of 30 billion dollars to the economy.

Pakistan — the world’s fifth largest population — is responsible for only 0.8 per cent of global greenhouse emissions but it’s one of the most vulnerable to extreme weather caused by global warming.
