A recent report released by the Citizens Police Lines Committee (CPLC) has shed light on the alarming rise in street crime incidents in Karachi during the month of June. According to the report, a total of 7,096 street crime incidents were reported in the city, painting a concerning picture of public safety.
Among the reported incidents, motorcycle theft at gunpoint emerged as a major concern, with 4,125 citizens falling victim to such incidents across various areas of Karachi. The report revealed that criminals targeted unsuspecting individuals and s\natched their motorcycles, leaving them vulnerable and traumatized.
Cell phone theft was another prevalent form of street crime in the city, with 2,179 people reporting the theft of their mobile phones during these incidents. The rising trend of cell phone theft highlights the increasing value and demand for such devices in the black market.
The CPLC report also documented 158 incidents of vehicle theft and 34 incidents of vehicle snatching during the same period. These incidents not only cause financial losses to the victims but also disrupt their daily lives and create a sense of insecurity within the community.
The findings of the report underscore the urgent need for enhanced security measures and improved law enforcement efforts in Karachi.
