The Sindh education department has halted the payment of salaries to over 2,000 ghost teachers across the province.
According to reports, the Sindh education department wrote a letter to the provincial accountant general requesting that the salaries of 2,019 ghost teachers be halted.
Following the education department’s letter, the AG Sindh seized the disbursement of salaries to ghost teachers.
Sindh education secretary Akbar Laghari stated that teachers who receive their salaries while sitting at home will be fired.
Salaries for 144 ghost teachers from Karachi, 132 from Hyderabad, 114 from Mirpurkhas, 464 from Qambar, 190 from Jacobabad, 102 from Dadu, and 182 from Benazirabad districts have been suspended.
Furthermore, the salaries of 128 ghost teachers identified in Shikarpur, 89 in Naushero Feroze, 155 in Larkana and 28 in Sanghar have also been seized.
