Outgoing Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah initiated the soft launch of the long-awaited Karachi Safe City Project a day before concluding his five-year term in office. The launch took place at the contract signing ceremony of the Integrated C5ISR-based Safe City Project held at the CM House.
The project, focused on command, control, communication, computer, cyber security, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR), aims to enhance security and safety measures in Karachi. The Chief Minister highlighted that the initiative symbolizes the determination and dedication of the Sindh government.
Emphasizing the importance of the project, Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that the Karachi Safe City Project goes beyond being a collection of surveillance cameras and technological advancements. It represents the shared aspirations of Karachi’s citizens for a secure environment. The Chief Minister acknowledged the challenges of a rapidly growing city and affirmed the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of every resident.
He stressed that the government’s agenda has always prioritized citizens’ needs and aspirations. Despite challenges, the government aims to confront them with determination and innovation. The project is expected to strengthen law enforcement, reduce emergency response times, and deter criminal activities.
The integrated approach aligns with the provincial government’s commitment to creating a prosperous and secure city. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including government officials, law enforcement agencies, technical experts, and project teams, for their dedication and hard work.
Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the citizens of Karachi eagerly anticipate the improved safety and security promised by the project. He urged the Sindh Safe Cities Authority director general and NRTC managing director to prioritize meeting project deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
The event was attended by former Sindh IT Minister Taimur Talpur, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, NRTC chief Brigadier Asim Ishaq, and other officials. The launch of the Karachi Safe City Project is expected to significantly contribute to the city’s security infrastructure and enhance the well-being of its residents.
