Nooriabad Power Plant corruption case against Sindh CM transferred to Karachi court

The Nooriabad Power Plant corruption case involving Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and other accused has been transferred from Islamabad to Karachi. The decision was announced by the Accountability Court of Islamabad.

Judge Muhammad Bashir of the Accountability Court cited the NAB Amendment Ordinance as the reason for transferring the case. He stated that the reference no longer falls under the jurisdiction of his court due to the recent ordinance.

The accused, including Syed Murad Ali Shah, had challenged the court’s jurisdiction under the NAB Amendment Ordinance. After hearing the arguments, the court reserved its verdict and eventually ruled in favor of the accused, ordering the transfer of the case to the Special Judge Anti-Corruption in Karachi.

The move to transfer the case to Karachi is expected to have implications on the further proceedings and investigations related to the Nooriabad Power Plant corruption allegations.
