Nomination papers for Karachi by-polls being issued today

The release of nomination papers for the three Karachi National Assembly seats up for grabs following the resignation of PTI MNAs began today, according to a report from ARY News on Wednesday.

On September 25, a by-election will be held in three NA constituencies in Karachi: NA-237 Malir, NA-239 Korangi Karachi, and NA-246 Karachi South.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) states that nomination papers would be accepted from August 10 until August 13.

There has only ever been one nomination document given to a PML-N candidate by the district election commission in Malir.

The election commission has announced that the nomination papers will be scrutinised on August 17 and that candidates will receive their election insignia on August 29.

The by-election for nine National Assembly seats, as previously stated by the ECP, will take place on the 25th of the following month. After the PTI MNAs’ resignations were approved, the seats in the lower house were vacated.

NA-22 Mardan, NA-24 Charsadda, NA-31 Peshawar, NA-45 Kurram, NA-108 Faislabad, NA-118 Nankana Sahib, NA-237 Malir, NA-239 Korangi Karachi, and NA-246 Karachi South are among the National Assembly constituencies where by-elections have been announced.

A prohibition on officer transfers and postings has also been imposed by the ECP in all districts where the election schedule has been made public.
