NEPRA approves Rs 1.72/unit increase in Karachi’s electricity cost

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has granted approval for a Rs 1.72 per unit increase in the cost of electricity for Karachi. The approval comes in response to the government’s request for the adjustment.

The breakdown of the approved increase includes Rs 1.25 paisa per unit for the quarterly adjustment covering January-March 2023 and an additional 47 paise per unit for the quarterly adjustment pertaining to October-December 2022.

NEPRA has justified its decision by citing the need to maintain a uniform electricity tariff across the country.
