MQM-P does not have freedom like other parties: Wasim

The middle and lower classes are represented by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), a political party, although regrettably, it lacks the same freedom to engage in political activity as other political organisations.

Wasim Akhtar, the head of the MQM-P and a former mayor of Karachi, made this statement on Sunday at a press conference held at the Bahadurabad office of the party. He claimed that despite not having the same political freedom as other parties, the party was fighting for the rights of 98% of the nation’s population, which was made up of middle-class and lower-class individuals.

At the press conference, Akhtar stated that the MQM-P had expressed concerns about issues including unfair delineations in Karachi, faulty census results, and fictitious addresses for employment that had denied the people of their rights.

The MQM-P is a patriotic party, and our ancestors gave their lives in service to the nation, Akhtar said. On this occasion, a lot of political activists from different parties joined the MQM-P. They were welcomed by Akhtar, who encouraged them to support the party and maintain its discipline.

He claimed that anyone who wished to re-join the party may do so through the open doors of the MQM-P. He stated that those who had left the party were welcome to re-join and continue the fight with fervour and devotion.

In answer to a query, he stated that although the MQM-P and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had previously signed a deal to join the coalition government, the PTI had not carried it out.

In front of the nation’s leaders and the media, we have now signed a paper agreement with the Pakistan Muslim League-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party, but the agreement has not yet been put into practise.

He stated that the MQM-P would be free to choose its next course of action following deliberations within the party’s Coordination Committee if that agreement was not put into effect in the near future.

“Any party that harbours the notion that it would hold local government elections using unfair delimitations ought to abandon such a rudimentary notion. With such tricks, we won’t let anyone steal Karachi’s mandate, the former mayor declared.

He said that the people of Sindh have backed the MQM-P in the past and continued to do so. He continued by saying that the populace was aware of the liberties they had lost and could tell right from wrong.

Aamir Khan, a key leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Pakistan, met eminent religious scholar Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi while attending a mourning gathering in Nishtar Park on the seventh of Muharram.

Along with Khan, several top party figures were there. They offered Naqvi the MQM-assistance P’s in organising the meetings and funeral procession. Khan spoke about Muslim unity and religious harmony in relation to Muharram.

The MQM-P leaders were thanked by Allama Naqvi and other academics, who also wished them well. The party’s Medical Aid Committee has set up a medical camp in Nishtar Park where it is treating mourners with medicine and first aid.
