Met office forecasts rainfall and gusty winds in Karachi, other parts of Sindh

The Meteorological Office has issued a forecast predicting rainfall accompanied by gusty winds in Karachi and other districts of Sindh on July 07 and 08. Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has indicated the likelihood of heavy rainfall in Sukkur, Tharparkar, Thatta, and other districts of the province due to the influence of a weather system. Additionally, there is a possibility of rain in Sindh on July 09.

Sarfaraz dismissed the possibility of urban flooding in Karachi following the rainfall. However, he warned that some cities in Balochistan could experience heavy rainfall, which may result in flooding in hill torrents.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also predicted rainfall across the country starting today due to the impact of a westerly wave.

Rain, wind, and thundershowers, including isolated heavy falls, are expected in Barkhan, Sibbi, Loralai, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Lasbella, and Naseerabad districts of Balochistan.

The Met Office has cautioned that heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods in the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and the surrounding areas of northeast Balochistan.

Furthermore, there is a warning of urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, and Lahore.
