India begins Champions Trophy campaign in dominant fashion against Bangladesh

Ind vs Ban Live updates

India and Bangladesh’s cricket rivalry has been a compelling one, especially in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and ICC Champions Trophy matches.

The two teams have faced off 41 times in ODIs, with India coming out on top 32 times, while Bangladesh has won 8 of those encounters, and one match ended without a result.

Their only Champions Trophy meeting took place in the 2017 semi-finals, where India dominated, securing a 9-wicket victory.

Looking ahead to their next clash in the Champions Trophy 2025, both teams are preparing for another thrilling encounter.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan is hosting the ICC event after 29 years, with matches taking place across three venues in Pakistan – Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi – along with Dubai, UAE.

Despite political tensions with India, which is playing its matches in Dubai, the event continues with heightened security in the host cities.

  • Pitch Report: Fresh Surface, Batting First Likely Advantage

Nasser Hussain and Mel Jones, in the pitch report, highlighted that while the surface is fresh, it is expected to slow down and tire in the second innings. With no dew reported in Dubai this year, as confirmed by the groundsmen, batting first could provide a significant advantage.

In terms of the ground dimensions, the straight boundary measures 82 meters, favoring longer hits down the ground. One of the square boundaries is larger at 74 meters, while the other is shorter at 62 meters, suggesting that match-ups and end preferences could play a key role. The toss, while not far off, may prove to be crucial in deciding the conditions for both teams.
