The Meteorological Department has released statistics of this month’s rainfall in Karachi and predicts that the city will remain rain-free until August 15. According to the data, Sarjani Town received the highest rainfall with 169 mm (approximately 6 and a half inches), while Sadar recorded the lowest rainfall with only 3 mm.
Other areas in Karachi that experienced rainfall include North Karachi (109.5 mm), Gulshan Hadid (92 mm), Gulshan Mimar (88.3 mm), University Road (76.3 mm), Saadi Town (68.2 mm), Orangi Town (65 mm), Jinnah Terminal (55.6 mm), and PAF Base Faisal (44 mm).
The Meteorological Department noted that the recent system from the Bay of Bengal brought intense rainfall during the month of July. However, no fresh rain is expected in the city until August 15. Sea breezes are expected to be complete from next week, and the weather will remain slightly moderate due to active weather.
The Early Warning Center of the Meteorological Department forecasts that the city will remain partly cloudy for the next three days with the possibility of drizzle. The weather may be slightly humid during the day, and the maximum temperature is likely to be between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius.
Monsoon winds are currently affecting Central, Upper Sindh, and Balochistan. Today, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in districts such as Dadu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Larkana. These areas may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, and heavy rain is expected to continue in Sabi, Khuzdar, Jhal Magsi, Dera Murad Jamali, and Kirthar Range until July 28.
Due to heavy rain, there is a risk of floods and water flow in districts like Dadu, Jamshoro, Qamber Shahdadkot, and Jacobabad.
On Wednesday, Karachi experienced a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius, with the humidity in the air at 64 percent.
