According to a statement issued by the Met Office, strong westerly winds will enter the country from May 1. Dust storms will blow in Karachi, Thatta and Badin on May 1 and 2. Dust storms will blow in Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas and Benazirabad during this period.
The Met Office also said that there is a risk of damage to wind-swept areas. People should take precautionary measures. The Meteorological Department has forecast a rise of seven to nine degrees Celsius in the plains till Monday, but a slight decrease in the intensity of heat is expected as the day progresses.
In the evening and at night, strong winds will blow in the plains and mountains, which will bring temporary relief, but during the daytime temperatures will be higher than normal.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department had forecast dry weather in most parts of the country on April 29 and severe heat in the plains.
Cloudy weather is expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan at night. Most parts of the country are in the grip of extreme heat. Extreme heat prevails in most parts of the province including South Punjab.
The heat is also touching the limits in Sindh. Weather forecasters said that hot weather was recorded in Nawabshah, Mithi, Dadu, Sukkur and other areas even today. In Balochistan, Turbat, Sibi and Nokandi are also hot.
