In the latest weather update, the Meteorological Office (Met Office) has anticipated dry weather accompanied by colder nights in Karachi over the next 24 hours, as reported by ARY News on Monday.
The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 16.5 degrees Celsius, while the daytime temperatures are expected to range between 28 to 29 degrees Celsius, according to the weather department. Additionally, a humidity level of 40 percent was registered in the morning, contributing to the overall atmospheric conditions.
Notably, northeastern winds are sweeping through Karachi at a speed of seven nautical miles, influencing the city’s weather patterns.
Despite the prevailing dry weather, concerns about air quality persist. The city’s air quality index reading stood at 171, categorizing it within the hazardous zone. Karachi, unfortunately, ranked as the 8th most polluted city globally, based on the index, according to the weather office.
Looking beyond Karachi, the forecast indicates that most districts of Sindh will experience cold and dry weather, with the possibility of fog and smog in specific areas, including Jacobabad, Mohen Jo Daro, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, and Padidan.
In Balochistan, cold and frosty conditions are expected to prevail in most districts, while extreme cold weather is anticipated in the northern districts of the province.
The nationwide forecast from the Met Office indicates that cold and dry weather will persist in most parts of the country, with chances of light rain at some locations and snowfall in the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
For the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh, the Met Office predicts the continuation of fog and smog, adding an atmospheric challenge to these regions.
