The issuance of Pakistani passports, temporarily halted since October 11 due to a shortage of lamination paper, is anticipated to resume next week. The Director General (DG) Passport provided this assurance to Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who promptly addressed the passport printing issue and sought immediate resolution.

The DG Passport conveyed that emergency measures are in progress to address the shortage of lamination papers. The printing of passports is expected to recommence next week following the approval of necessary papers. This development comes as a relief after the temporary suspension of passport issuance, resulting in a backlog of around 500,000 applications nationwide.

The resumption of passport printing will facilitate the timely processing of pending applications, addressing the inconvenience caused to applicants during the temporary suspension.
