Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar announced the decision, saying a special vaccination drive would be conducted at schools to make it easier for children to receive their Covid-19 jabs.
Asad Umar said vaccination teams would conduct special drives at educational institutions to facilitate the vaccination of children.
“A special drive will be run for vaccination at schools to make it easier for children to be vaccinated,” he said.
The initiative was aimed at increasing vaccination coverage among school-going children as educational activities resumed amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earlier, the NCOC had warned that people who remained unvaccinated would face various restrictions from October 1.
The forum urged citizens to complete their vaccination as soon as possible to avoid restrictions and help contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Earlier in September, the government had allowed citizens aged 17 and above to receive Covid-19 vaccines.
Immunocompromised children aged 12 and above had also been allowed to receive vaccination after presenting relevant medical documents.
According to NCOC statistics, Pakistan administered 961,340 Covid-19 vaccine doses on September 27. The country’s cumulative vaccination tally had reached 79,531,641 doses.
The government continued to encourage eligible citizens to get vaccinated as part of its efforts to control Covid-19 transmission and protect public health.
