The Supreme Court has directed the relevant authorities to hand over Askari Amusement Park to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) within two weeks.

A two-member Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Qazi Mohammad Amin issued the directives while hearing the case.
The court directed the KMC administrator to take control of the park and reopen it to the public without any entry fee.
Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed also directed the KMC to return the existing rides to the current management and install new rides at the park.
The court further ordered that all shops constructed on the park’s land be demolished.
The judges questioned how 38 shops and a marriage hall had been constructed on land designated for the amusement park.
The court also directed that the 99-year agreement between the KMC and the army concerning the park be considered null and void.
The directives were issued as the Supreme Court examined the use and management of the land and facilities at Askari Amusement Park.
