The swimming pool itself is of international standard, measuring 50 meters in length and 21 meters in width, and has hosted national-level competitions. Notably, it is equipped with a heating system, making it one of the few pools in Karachi capable of maintaining water temperature during colder conditions.

Strict hygiene protocols are followed, including 24/7 filtration, daily chemical treatment, chlorination, and regular vacuum cleaning to ensure water quality.
Timings and Schedule of KMC Swimming Pool
According to KMC Director Sports, Aftab Kaimkhani, the swimming pool operates in two daily shifts. The morning session runs from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, while the evening session is held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
However, there are slight adjustments in the morning schedule at the start of the week. From Monday to Wednesday, morning swimming classes remain closed due to overnight cleaning and vacuuming of the pool, ensuring high hygiene standards.

About KMC Swimming Pool
The swimming pool at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Sports Complex, also known as the Kashmir Road Sports Complex, was established in 1974 on Kashmir Road to provide affordable sports facilities for the youth of Karachi.
The pool has undergone several major restorations to maintain its functionality as one of Karachi’s few public-sector swimming facilities.
After remaining closed for nearly a year for maintenance, the pool and diving facility were reopened in June 2015. This renovation included the installation of a new filter plant, replacement of water supply and sewerage lines, and upgraded spectator seating.
In April 2019, then-Mayor Wasim Akhtar reopened the facility to the general public after further restoration efforts intended to make it a primary seasonal recreational spot.
Most recently, in December 01, 2025, the facility underwent its most significant technical upgrade to date in preparation for the National Games. This Rs. 150 million project introduced international-standard technology, including:
- Six Heat Pumps: Imported from China to keep water warm during winter, making it a year-round facility.
- Electronic Timing Systems: 16 timing touchpads installed across eight lanes to record swimmers’ times instantly.
- Advanced Filtration: A modern automated purification and digital water-quality monitoring system.
Over the years, the KMC Swimming pool has hosted numerous national, provincial, and regional swimming competitions, serving as a training ground for both amateur and professional athletes in Karachi.
