Flour prices hit all-time high in Pakistan

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the cost of flour has reached an all-time high in the nation, with a 20-kg bag going for Rs2400 in Karachi and Quetta (PBS).

In Quetta, where prices have increased by Rs480 per 20 kg over the past 15 days, wheat is offered for Rs120 per kg, while in Karachi, prices have increased by Rs260 over the same period.

According to research, a 20 kg bag of wheat costs Rs 2260 in Hyderabad whereas Rs 2100 is the price for the same bag in Larkana.

Similar to this, the cost of a 20 kg bag of flour has risen to Rs 2,040 in Sukkur and Rs 2,200 in Khuzdar.

PBS stats show that the price of 20Kg flour bag is up to Rs980 in major cities of Punjab, while in Islamabad, the 20 kg flour bag is of the same price.

 

On weekly basis prices of following essential items rose:

Food items:

  • Tea Lipton 190 gram — 6.30%

  • Pulse Moong (washed) — 3.46%

  • Eggs — 2.54%

  • Pulse Gram — 2.53%

  • Eggs — 3.84%

  • Cooked beef — 2.53%

  • Wheat flour — 1.96%

  • Bread — 1.45%

 

On weekly basis prices of following essential items decreased:

Food items:

  • Onions — -16.24%

  • Tomatoes — -9.84%

  • Bananas — -2.5%

  • Chicken — -1.88%

  • Sugar — -0.95%

  • Vegatable Ghee (1kg) — -0.39%

  • Potatoes — 0.33%

Non-food items:

  • LPG — -2.62%
